2. Men Care About Clean, Sustainable Skin Care

A simple-to-follow cosmetics regime is a priority for many men. But beyond this, the demand for ethical skin care products is on the rise.

Clean beauty for men is a niche that, for a long time, was yet to be tapped, but men are just as interested in ethical produce as women. In fact, as many as 46% of men want to purchase cosmetics with eco-friendly packaging, and fair trade, and cruelty-free claims. 

3. Combination Skin Requires the Right Treatment

Most men have combination skin! This means their skin can be dehydrated but is rarely lacking in natural lubrication. Steer clear of oily products and instead recommend hydrating, water-based cosmetics.

It's better to stay away from heavy creams or thick, pasty products. Lighter weight cosmetics can be more easily absorbed.

4. Brands Are Investing in Male-Focused Make-Up

With a more gender-neutral approach tackling the idea of traditional masculinity in recent years, brands are investing in offering men cosmetics that have previously not been available to them at a range.

These include make-up products that offer subtle enhancements like foundations, concealers, and bronzers. 

Emerging brands are building men’s cosmetics products targeted at men directly. Instead of gender-neutral approaches, these products embrace the masculinity in grooming and skincare.

5. Men’s Grooming Is on the Up

While previously a neglected market, men’s skincare, and cosmetics are seeing a booming rise. In 2019, global growth was +5.2%, bringing men’s care products to an industry value of $53.6 billion.

Male targeted skincare products have been rising by 7% since 2018. This is due to an increasing focus on look-conscious skincare and de-stigmatizing of men and their relationship to beauty routines and make-up.
